WSDC sharing the dharma, building sangha

About Winston-Salem Dharma Community

The community meets every Tuesday from 6:30–8:00 pm at the Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston-Salem. During the COVID-19 pandemic, gatherings continued online via Zoom, allowing the group to remain connected and even expand. What began as a circle of 8–10 practitioners has steadily grown, with current attendance averaging 20–30 participants each week. Click HERE to subscribe to our weekly newsletter that provides a description of the next week’s talk, the upcoming schedule, and important announcements.

WSDC does not have a permanent teacher. Instead, members share leadership by offering talks and guiding practices. Some bring decades of meditation experience and retreat participation; others contribute academic knowledge of Buddhist traditions and teachings. Because our members come from varied backgrounds, the community intentionally avoids prescribing a single form of meditation, emphasizing instead openness, inclusivity, and shared exploration.
